  3. 10.4.2024 | The European Union has granted EUR 1.9 million to Finnish businesses for constructing recharging points for electric cars in the Baltic States and EUR 4.2 million for constructing hydrogen charging points in Finland. Funding was granted under the Transport Programme of the Connecting Europe Facility, CEF.

  7. 3.2.2026 | Finanspolitiska ministerutskottet fastställde den 3 februari 2026 att staten förbinder sig att delta i Västbanan-projektets byggkostnader efter att Kyrkslätt dragit sig ur projektet. Kyrkslätts kommunfullmäktige beslutade den 8 december 2025 att inte godkänna det nya delägaravtalet om Västbanan Ab som staten och kommunerna förhandlat fram.

Suomen tavoitteet erityisesti harvaan asuttujen vähäliikenteisten alueiden huomioimisesta on sisällytetty saavutettuun sopuun. Sopu vahvistetaan ministerineuvoston kokouksessa.

  10. 18.8.2023 | Euroopan unionissa hyväksyttiin vaihtoehtoisten käyttövoimien jakeluinfrastruktuurin käyttöönotosta annetun nk. AFIR-asetuksen neuvottelutulos heinäkuussa 2023. Asetus huomioi Suomelle tärkeät joustot. Liikenne- ja viestintäministeriö teki 15.8.2023 säädöshankepäätöksen ja aloittaa lainsäädäntömuutosten valmistelun.

  11. 10.6.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has published a monitoring report on the impacts of the legislative amendments that were needed to implement the Directive establishing the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC), or Telecoms Directive. The report also includes data on the achievement of the related regulatory objectives. The EECC regulates electronic communications (telecoms) networks and services.

  12. 21.11.2024 | On 21 November 2024, the Government submitted to Parliament its proposal to amend the budget proposal for 2025. The Government proposes funding for the Digirail project, which involves the modernisation of Finland's rail traffic control system, and several rail, urban tramline and road projects. The Government also proposes EUR 400 million for the construction of West Railway, subject to certain conditions.

  14. 22.11.2024 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched a monitoring project to assess the impacts of the legislative amendments that were needed to implement the Directive establishing the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC). The Code regulates electronic communications (telecoms) networks and services. The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom will carry out the impact assessment under the Ministry's guidance.

  16. 13.6.2024 | The State and the shareholder municipalities of West Railway Ltd – Turku, Espoo, Salo, Lohja, Vihti and Kirkkonummi – have been negotiating on the terms and conditions of the pre-agreement which will enable the transition to the construction phase of the West Railway. Helsinki, which was involved in the planning phase of the project, will not take part in funding the construction phase.

  18. 10.4.2024 | Finländska företag har beviljats EU-finansiering till ett belopp av 1,9 miljoner euro för byggande av laddningsstationer för elbilar i Baltikum samt 4,2 miljoner euro för byggande av vätgasstationer för tung trafik i Finland. Finansieringen beviljades ur Fonden för ett sammanlänkat Europa (Connecting Europe Facility, CEF).

  20. 18.8.2023 | In July 2023, the European Union adopted the outcome of the negotiations on the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).  In the Regulation, there is flexibility in areas that are important for Finland. On 15 August 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Communications decided to launch a legislative project on the matter and start preparations for adopting legislative amendments.
