  5. In line with the Programme of Prime Minister Orpo's Government, Finland's Cyber Security Strategy has been revised to respond to the changed security environment. The objectives of the revised strategy extend to 2035. A strategy implementation plan has been drawn to describe the development measures to achieve the objectives. The plan was approved on 3 December 2024 by the steering group of the project developing an operating model for government security management.

  8. 19.5.2025 | A national cyber exercise (“KYHA”) brought together more than 120 central government employees to improve their technical skills and mutual cooperation against cyber attacks. Held at the IT Institute of the JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskylä on 12–16 May 2025, this cyber exercise, the second one this year, turned out to be a great success.

  9. 10.2.2025 | Municipalities and operators involved in Finland's critical infrastructure took part in the first national cyber exercise of the year at Jamk University of Applied Sciences between 3 and 7 February 2025. The exercise brought together cybersecurity, management and communications professionals especially from the north of Finland and Northern Ostrobothnia.

  11. 29.4.2024 | Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne will visit Narvik, Norway, from 29 to 30 April 2024. Together with the Norwegian and Swedish transport ministers, she will observe NATO’s Immediate Response 2024 defence exercise, which will practise military mobility and reception of military support.

  12. 8.3.2024 | Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne will visit the Nordic Response 24 defence exercise in Lapland on 10–11 March 2024. This is the first time that Finland’s Minister of Transport and Communications will be present in an international military exercise. During her visit, Minister Ranne will learn about the activities of the Defence Forces and the Air Force, Nordic cooperation between the authorities and NATO-Nordic defence cooperation from the infrastructure perspective.

  14. 27.3.2025 | The Government proposes that the President of the Republic approve the amendment to the Act on Transport Services and that it would enter into force on 14 April 2025. The President of the Republic is expected to approve the Act on Friday, 4 April 2025. Individual amendments were made to the Act due to EU regulation, for example.

  15. 27.6.2025 | On 27 June 2025, the President of the Republic approved amendments to the Act on the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle. The amendments will implement the legislative changes outlined by the parliamentary working group on Yle. They also incorporate the criteria and procedures for the appointment and dismissal of the management of public service media providers required by the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA). The legislative amendments will enter into force on 8 August 2025.
