Minna Kivimäki appointed Finland's Coreper I representative

Director-General Minna Kivimäki from the Services Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications has been appointed Finland's Deputy Permanent Representative to the European Union and Deputy Permanent Representative to Coreper I in Brussels. The term in the EU will start on 1 September 2016 and continue until 31 August 2020.

Kivimäki has served as Director-General of the Services Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications since the beginning of 2016 and as Deputy Director-General of the Ministry's Transport Policy Department since 2010. Kivimäki has also worked as Senior Specialist responsible for transport matters at Finland's Permanent Representation to the EU.

Coreper (Comité des Représentants Permanents), the Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States to the European Union, is the Council's main preparatory body. Coreper meets in two configurations, separated by the Roman numbers I and II.

Coreper II consists of the Member States' Permanent Representatives to the EU. The Deputy Permanent Representatives to the EU represent their countries in the meetings of Coreper I. Coreper I has responsibility for employment, social policy, health and consumer affairs; competitiveness (internal market, industry and research); transport, telecommunications and energy; agriculture and fisheries; environment and education, youth, culture and sports.
