On 22 June 2022, the Government appointed the Advisory Board for Network Security for a new term of office. The role of the Advisory Board is to assess and develop the security of domestic communications networks and to support the authorities' decision-making processes. On 27 June 2024, the Government appointed the Advisory Board for Network Security for a new term of office. The Advisory Board aims to assess and improve national security in communications networks. A working group appointed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications has started its work to promote 6G communications technologies. The aim is to prepare a national 6G roadmap and to encourage cooperation and exchange of information in the field of future-generation wireless network technologies. In addition, approximately EUR 8.6 million in funding is being sought for Swedish-led projects that involve Finnish operators. On 9 April, the Ministry of Transport and Communications launched a legislative project to prepare amendments to the act on facilitating the introduction of very high capacity networks.
