The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet in London from 27 April to 1 May 2026. IMO Member States are expected to decide the next steps in negotiations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. 22.5.2025 | On 20 May 2025, the European Commission published a delegated regulation that creates a separate vehicle sub-group for extra-heavy combination lorries to the EU’s CO2 emission performance standards regulation for the calculation of CO2 emission targets of vehicle manufacturers. 5.10.2022 | The central government will implement an extensive energy saving programme in its premises with the aim to help Finland overcome the current challenging energy situation. The Ministerial working group on developing the digital transformation, the data economy and public administration discussed the matter on 5 October. 22.1.2024 | The European Member States, Parliament and the Commission have reached a provisional agreement on a regulation on CO2 emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs). The emissions reduction targets for new heavy-duty vehicles will gradually tighten and the scope of application of the regulation will widen. The topics include the package of a possible fuel standard and a price for carbon emissions. The conclusions to be adopted by the Environment Council will constitute the EU’s objective for the Climate Change Conference.
