10.4.2024 | The European Union has granted EUR 1.9 million to Finnish businesses for constructing recharging points for electric cars in the Baltic States and EUR 4.2 million for constructing hydrogen charging points in Finland. Funding was granted under the Transport Programme of the Connecting Europe Facility, CEF.

5.10.2023 | The Government proposes amendments to the Act on Transport Services. The amendments would allow to insert the railway station accessibility data into the European Railway Station Accessibility Database, ERSAD, laid down by a European Union Regulation.

26.10.2023 | Finnish companies apply for EU funding for building recharging points for electric cars in the Baltic States and for hydrogen stations for heavy goods vehicles in Finland and Denmark. The Ministerial Finance Committee endorsed the applications on 26 October 2023.

10.6.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has published a monitoring report on the impacts of the legislative amendments that were needed to implement the Directive establishing the European Electronic Communications Code (EECC), or Telecoms Directive. The report also includes data on the achievement of the related regulatory objectives. The EECC regulates electronic communications (telecoms) networks and services.

The Code regulates electronic communications (telecoms) networks and services. The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom will carry out the impact assessment under the Ministry's guidance.

It provides information on purchase of air transport services and on the impacts and future prospects of flight connections to support decision-making in the government budget session.

The Government proposes funding for the Digirail project, which involves the modernisation of Finland's rail traffic control system, and several rail, urban tramline and road projects. The Government also proposes EUR 400 million for the construction of West Railway, subject to certain conditions.

8.12.2022 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications submitted a report to Parliament on 8 December 2022 concerning the longer-term impacts of the Transport Services Act. The report finds that the Act is meeting the needs for change arising from the change in transport sector.

24.11.2023 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has published a vision for an accessible transport system. The vision defines the aims for the development of the accessibility of the transport system throughout Finland.

7.6.2021 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications published a report on improving accessibility information for mobility services on 7 June 2021. Accessibility information refers to information on such questions as how the transport infrastructure and mobility service are suited to the elderly and people with reduced mobility, for example in respect of lifts at transport terminals and low-floor train carriages or buses.

18.8.2023 | In July 2023, the European Union adopted the outcome of the negotiations on the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).  In the Regulation, there is flexibility in areas that are important for Finland. On 15 August 2023, the Ministry of Transport and Communications decided to launch a legislative project on the matter and start preparations for adopting legislative amendments.
