11.3.2024 | The name of the company Finnish Rail (Suomi-rata Oy) is changing, and the company will continue operations as Airport Line (Lentorata Oy). The company’s mission is to plan the rail link between Pasila and Kerava via Helsinki Airport until it is ready for construction.

18.9.2023 | The State of Finland, represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, is starting negotiations with the current shareholders of Finnish Rail Ltd to change the purpose of the company to cover only the planning of the Airport Line. At the same time, the name of the company will be changed to Lentorata Oy. In addition, other amendments to the shareholder agreement and the articles of association required by this will be negotiated.

The European Commission has selected communications projects to receive funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). In the third round of calls for proposals under the CEF Digital programme, two projects coordinated by Finnish operators received a total of around EUR 21.07 million in funding.   This press release corrects information published (in Finnish) in a press release on 29 October 2024.

20.5.2025 | The Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy decided on 20 May 2025 to fully finance flight connections between six regional airports and Helsinki up to 27 February 2028. Air connections to the city of Savonlinna, however, will be funded out of government funds up to 50 per cent only. The decision is based on the spring 2026 government discussion on spending limits.
