The Government plans on introducing supplements for the new Road Traffic Act. As a result of legislative amendments adopted after the approval of the Act, also the Road Traffic Act needs to be specified.

The amendments are related, for example, to the reform of the agencies in the administrative branch of the Ministry of Transport and Communications: the establishment of the Transport and Communications Agency and Transport Infrastructure Agency.

Some of the proposed amendments are related to legislative techniques. These include  the transfer of provisions on the light vehicle and HCT vehicle combination from Government decrees into acts.

What next?

A referral debate on the government proposal submitted to Parliament will be conducted in a Parliament plenary session. Information on the date of the session will be available on the Parliament website (plenary session agendas).

After the preliminary debate, the proposal will be taken to a Parliamentary Committee. After the Committee submits its report, the process will continue in a plenary session.

The new Road Traffic Act has been adopted and will enter into force on 1 June 2020. The proposed supplements are expected to enter into force at the same time.
