  1. Finland has been awarded EUR 462,000 in EU funding to advance road safety under a European Commission call launched in late 2025. It will support a network-wide road safety assessment, the collection of road safety performance indicators, and the national implementation of the EU Road Safety Package.

  2. Finnish operators apply for a total of EUR 13.76 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for seven communications projects.   3. The European Commission has selected communications projects to receive funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). In the fourth round of calls for proposals under the CEF Digital programme, five projects coordinated by Finnish operators received a total of around EUR 4.67 million in funding. In addition, funding was awarded to a Swedish submarine cable project that is partly placed in Finland.

  4. The Ministry of Transport and Communications requests views on a draft government proposal to amend the Act on the Transport System and Highways, the Rail Transport Act and certain related acts. The aim is to improve the security and reliability of the transport network and to streamline the processes of planning and implementing the transport infrastructure.   5. The Ministry of Transport and Communications published the final report of the Digital Panel on 15 June 2026.   6. On 9 June 2026, in connection with the EU Transport Council meeting, Finland joined a Joint Declaration of Intent by Member States regarding large-scale cross-border testbeds for autonomous vehicles. The aim is to promote the testing of automated driving systems in the EU.

  9. 23.4.2026 | On 23 April 2026, the Government submitted amendments to the Act on Electronic Communication Services for approval. The amendments apply to equipment that interfere with radio communications, so-called jammers. The act is scheduled to enter into force on 1 July 2026.

  10. 27.3.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Finance have completed a joint outlook review of the current state of transport taxation and financing, and options for reform.
