Finnish operators apply for a total of EUR 13.76 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for seven communications projects. In addition, four Swedish projects are partly placed in Finland. The Ministerial Finance Committee decided in favour of the applications on 30 January 2025.

The European Commission has selected communications projects to receive funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). In the fourth round of calls for proposals under the CEF Digital programme, five projects coordinated by Finnish operators received a total of around EUR 4.67 million in funding. In addition, funding was awarded to a Swedish submarine cable project that is partly placed in Finland.

On 23 April 2026, the Government submitted amendments to the Act on Electronic Communication Services for approval. The amendments apply to equipment that interfere with radio communications, so-called jammers. The act is scheduled to enter into force on 1 July 2026.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications is inviting comments on a draft government proposal for amending the legislation on devices known as jammers intended for interfering with radio communications. The amendments would be made to the Act on Electronic Communications Services. Comments may be submitted until 29 October 2025.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Finance have completed a joint outlook review of the current state of transport taxation and financing, and options for reform. The consultation was open from 19 June to 31 August 2025.  On 13 October 2025, the Ministry published a summary of the 33 comments received.

The deadline for submitting comments is 31 May 2024. The Ministry has also published a study, which was conducted by the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy, on the markets covered by the Data Act in Finland.
