  3. 3.5.2024 | GPS interference in aviation has been debated in public. The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom published a press release saying that it is safe to fly to and in Finland. Traficom is responsible for flight and aviation safety as well as for monitoring GPS interference.

  4. The National Cyber Security Office, based at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Finnish Terminology Centre are requesting comments on a draft of an updated Cybersecurity Glossary. The deadline for submitting comments is 20 March 2026. The glossary project is part of an implementation plan of Finland’s Cyber Security Strategy 2024–2035.

  5. Finnish operators apply for a total of EUR 13.76 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for seven communications projects.   6. The Facilitation Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) met in London from 23 to 27 March 2026. The Facilitation Committee (FAL) deals with facilitation, digitalisation and procedures by the authorities related to international maritime traffic.

  7. 27.8.2020 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications is preparing a legislative package to ensure health security in maritime transport, aviation and passenger transport, including terminals and stations. A proposal is also under preparation to amend the Act on Communicable Diseases in terms of the provisions concerning the transport sector.

  8. 15.7.2021 | The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has submitted a proposal for the new aviation information security regulations of the European Commission. It aims to improve the aviation sector's capabilities to protect themselves against information security risks and thus improve aviation safety.   9. 11.8.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications proposes that EUR 3.78 billion be allocated to its administrative branch for 2026. This is about EUR 60 million less than in the 2025 Budget.

  10. 20.5.2025 | The Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy decided on 20 May 2025 to fully finance flight connections between six regional airports and Helsinki up to 27 February 2028. Air connections to the city of Savonlinna, however, will be funded out of government funds up to 50 per cent only. The decision is based on the spring 2026 government discussion on spending limits.

  12. 13.9.2012 | The Government has proposed ratification of the aviation agreement concerning establishment of the Northern European Functional Airspace Block (NEFAB). Finland, Latvia, Norway and Estonia signed the agreement in June 2012 in Tallinn.
