The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom allocated 3.5 million euros in grants to a total of 12 projects. The selected projects aim to make walking and cycling a more convenient and attractive option as well as improve safety.

  12. 23.3.2018 | The Government adopted a resolution on promoting walking and cycling on Thursday, 22 March. In support of the resolution, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has published a more detailed programme on promoting walking and cycling. It is the first government resolution on promoting walking and cycling to which several public operators and organisations have committed.

  13. 4.5.2018 | Instead of driving, walk or ride a bicycle for short trips. This is the message of the "I move, therefore I am" campaign. Nearly a quarter of all trips shorter than a kilometre are made by car, and the figure is 60 per cent for trips two to three kilometres long. The Ministry of Transport and Communications supports the promotion of walking and cycling also through the Society's Commitment to Sustainable Development.

  20. 30.9.2024 | The Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization convenes in London from 30 September to 4 October 2024. The 82nd session of the Committee continues the negotiations on global actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. The topics include the package of a possible fuel standard and a price for carbon emissions. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications Minna Kivimäki attends the session on 30 September–2 October 2024.
