i2010 conference brings experts to Finland

European decision-makers and leading experts will convene in Finland next week to discuss the challenges of the information society. The i2010 conference, “Towards a Ubiquitous European Information Society”, will be held in Espoo on 28 September.

The conference will examine the opportunities and challenges that the new information and communications technology brings to citizens, businesses and communities, and to decision-makers at all levels of society.

Keynote speakers at the seminar will include distinguished business leaders from Europe and Japan. They will share their experiences and visions of ubiquitous services, wireless connections and information security solutions. Discussions will feature such topics as ubiquitous technology applications in the field of transport, for example eCall and intelligent cars.

The conference will be hosted by Ms Susanna Huovinen, Finland‘s Minister of Transport and Communications. Ms Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Information Society and Media, will address the conference. Some 300 decision-makers and leading experts from EU member states and other European countries are expected to participate.

The conference is arranged by Finland’s Ministry of Transport and Communications in cooperation with the European Commission and the European Network and Information Security Agency, ENISA.
