The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched a legislative project to improve the operating conditions for the transport sector. The aim of the project is to further specify the EU regulation concerning road cabotage and make the regulations easier to comply with and supervise. 23.4.2026 | On 23 April 2026, the Government submitted amendments to the Act on Electronic Communication Services for approval. The amendments apply to equipment that interfere with radio communications, so-called jammers. Finland’s Ministry of Transport and Communications published a Joint Nordic Strategy for Transport System Preparedness on 11 March 2026. The strategy was handed over to the Nordic transport ministers in Rovaniemi where the ministers also issued a joint statement. The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet in London on 14–17 October 2025. After challenging negotiations, the Committee’s 83rd session reached a provisional agreement on measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from ships. Following complex negotiations and a rare vote, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) decided to postpone the final adoption of the long-discussed regulation package on maritime transport emissions by at least one year.
