  1. Finland has been awarded EUR 462,000 in EU funding to advance road safety under a European Commission call launched in late 2025. It will support a network-wide road safety assessment, the collection of road safety performance indicators, and the national implementation of the EU Road Safety Package.

  3. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched a legislative project to introduce a comprehensive reform of the Driving Licence Act, as the new Driving Licences Directive and the updated driving disqualifications rules of the EU shall be transposed into national legislation. The Directive calls for amendments to the driving licences regulation throughout the EU.

  6. On 12 June 2025, the Ministry of Transport and Communications initiated a regulation project to amend the Driving Licence Act. The project’s goals are to promote road safety by improving the capability of young drivers to identify and avoid risks and by restricting the times of day young people can drive. Preparations for this project have been under way for a long time.

  7. 26.6.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications is requesting views on the draft government proposal that would implement the EU's new legislative provisions concerning cross-border cooperation related to traffic offences. At the same time, regulation concerning the European Parking Card for persons with disabilities would be implemented nationally. Responses may be submitted until 28 August 2026.

  8. 19.6.2024 | Finland har tilldelats European Transport Safety Councils (ETSC) trafiksäkerhetspris 2024. Utmärkelsen beviljades för långvarigt och framgångsrikt trafiksäkerhetsarbete samt för en omfattande strategi och åtgärder för att förbättra säkerheten för alla vägtrafikanter. Finland tilldelades priset för första gången.

  10. 23.6.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications requests views on a draft government proposal to amend the Act on the Transport System and Highways, the Rail Transport Act and certain related acts. The aim is to improve the security and reliability of the transport network and to streamline the processes of planning and implementing the transport infrastructure.   12. 18.1.2024 | Finska staten och andra aktörer ansöker om sammanlagt cirka 325,13 miljoner euro från Fonden för ett sammanlänkat Europa (Connecting Europe Facility, CEF) för 21 trafik- och transportprojekt. Staten ansöker om sammanlagt 67,2 miljoner euro i finansiering för 11 projekt. Andra aktörer som deltar i statens projekt ansöker om sammanlagt 39,7 miljoner euro. Dessutom ansöker privata aktörer om sammanlagt 218,22 miljoner euro för 10 projekt.

  13. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched a legislative project to improve the operating conditions for the transport sector. The aim of the project is to further specify the EU regulation concerning road cabotage and make the regulations easier to comply with and supervise. In addition, the project promotes the use of vehicles powered by alternative fuels with a total mass not exceeding 4,250 kg in goods transport.
