18.11.2021 | The Government proposes that the Act on the Transport of Dangerous Goods be comprehensively reformed. The purpose is to harmonise the requirements on transport of dangerous goods by road, rail, vessel and air and to streamline legislation.  The aim of the reform is to improve the safety of transport and, in particular, to prevent possible environmental damage.

23.9.2021 | On 23 September 2021, the Government submitted a draft proposal to Parliament to nationally implement the reformed directive on road infrastructure safety management. The goal is to expand the monitoring of road safety to reduce the number of fatalities and serious accidents in road traffic.

8.6.2021 | A Transport Safety Strategy prepared by the Ministry of Transport and Communications has been circulated for comments. The strategy was prepared in broad-based cross-administrative cooperation with stakeholders. It sets out effective means for improving transport safety and preventing traffic accidents in all modes of transport.

27.6.2019 | Minister of Transport and Communications Sanna Marin has decided to suspend the preparation of the tendering of Southern Finland's regional rail services. It has turned out during the preparation process that it is not possible to proceed in the tendering as planned.
