Europeiska kommissionen lade den 20 och 21 januari 2026 fram förslag till ny cybersäkerhetsreglering och rättsakt om digitala nätverk (Digital Networks Act, DNA). I cybersäkerhetsregleringen ingår förslag till revidering av cybersäkerhetsakten och ändring av cybersäkerhetsdirektivet (NIS 2-direktivet).

15.7.2024 | On 15 July 2024, the Ministry of Transport and Communications published an assessment report on how the electrification of transport could contribute to the flexibility of the Finnish energy system. In accordance with EU requirements, the report describes the current state of the opportunities which the electrification of transport could offer and proposes measures. 

On 28 January 2026, the Ministry of Transport and Communications published an interim review of the project on security and new economic growth from communication networks, known as the TUUTTI project. The review outlines the project’s progress and presents the key findings to date.

On 17 June 2025, the Ministry of Transport and Communications published the national 6G roadmap to promote sixth-generation communications technologies. The roadmap sets milestones for the development and implementation of next-generation mobile communication technologies in the 2030s.

The European Commission presented proposals on 20 and 21 January 2026 for new cybersecurity regulation and the Digital Networks Act (DNA). The cybersecurity package includes a proposal to revise the Cybersecurity Act and to amend the cybersecurity regulation known as the Network and Information Systems Directive (NIS2 Directive).

5.10.2022 | The central government will implement an extensive energy saving programme in its premises with the aim to help Finland overcome the current challenging energy situation. The Ministerial working group on developing the digital transformation, the data economy and public administration discussed the matter on 5 October. Minister of Local Government Sirpa Paatero fully took over as chair of the ministerial working group for the remainder of the government term.

21.9.2021 | The Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU will organise informal meetings of energy and transport ministers in Kranj on 22–23 September 2021. At the meeting of energy ministers, Finland will be represented by Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä and Minister of Transport and Communications Timo Harakka at the meeting of transport ministers.
