18.11.2025 | Finland har beviljats finansiering för främjande av utsläppssnål trafik från transportprogrammet inom Fonden för ett sammanlänkat Europa. Europeiska kommissionen beviljade finländska företag sammanlagt cirka 10,6 miljoner euro för tre projekt.

11.5.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications is inviting comments on the draft government proposal concerning the implementation of the Ship-Source Pollution Directive. The necessary amendments would be made to the Environmental Protection Act. Comments may be submitted until 18 June 2026.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Finance have completed a joint outlook review of the current state of transport taxation and financing, and options for reform. The review report is the first part of the Government’s comprehensive reform of transport taxation and financing set out in the Programme of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s Government.

23.10.2025 | In Finland, summer time ends and clocks are changed back to Eastern European Time on the night between Saturday and Sunday. Clocks will be changed back by one hour next Sunday, 26 October 2025, at 4 in the morning.

27.6.2025 | The President of the Republic approved the legislative amendments on aviation on 27 June 2025. The amendments aim to improve aviation safety and security. The Acts will enter into force on 1 September 2025.

4.6.2025 | The EU Transport and Telecommunications Council will convene in Luxembourg from 5 to 6 June 2025. Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne will represent Finland at the meeting.

23.5.2025 | The Saimaa Canal delegates have decided that the sailing season in the canal will start on 26 May 2025 and last until 31 December 2025.

28.5.2025 | On 28 May 2025, the Finnish Government submitted a Union communication to Parliament regarding the European Commission’s proposal for the so-called Roadworthiness Package. In principle, the Government supports the proposal’s aim to promote road safety and reduce the negative environmental impacts of transport.

13.11.2024 | On 13 November 2024, the Ministry of Transport and Communications published the national programme on the distribution infrastructure for alternative fuels. The programme, which was drawn up in broad-based cooperation with stakeholders, facilitates the implementation of EU regulation.

16.4.2025 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched preparations for a new period of network and programming licences for terrestrial television. The new licence period should start on 11 January 2027.

25.3.2025 | Winter time ends and clocks are changed to summer time on the night between Saturday and Sunday. Clocks will be changed forward by one hour this Sunday, 30 March 2025, at 3.00 in the morning.

4.12.2024 | The transport and telecommunications ministers of the European Union will meet in Brussels on 5–6 December 2024. In the transport minister meeting, Finland will be represented by Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne and in the communications minister meeting by State Secretary Marjo Lindgren.
