Statsrådet lämnade en skrivelse till riksdagen den 1 april 2026 om kommissionens förslag till rättsakt om digitala nätverk (Digital Network Act, DNA). Regeringen understöder bland annat förslagets mål att modernisera och förenkla regleringen.

16.10.2023 | The EU ministers responsible for the environment and climate change issues will meet in Luxembourg on 16 October to discuss the EU’s objectives for the negotiations at the UN Climate Change Conference to be held in Dubai. The conclusions to be adopted by the Environment Council will constitute the EU’s objective for the Climate Change Conference. Finland’s representative at the Environment Council will be Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen.

16.12.2020 | On 17 December, the EU environment and climate ministers will meet in Brussels to finalise the EU’s climate commitment to the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Finland’s representative at the meeting will be Minister of the Environment and Climate Change Krista Mikkonen.

5.2.2026 | European route 16, E16, will be extended to Finland. The Finnish Government gave a decree on the matter on 5 February 2026. The decree will enter into force on 5 March 2026.

16.9.2010 | On 17-22 September, Minister of Communications Suvi Lindén will visit New York to participate in a meeting of the UN Broadband Commission and a Summit on the UN Millennium Development Goals.

3.10.2025 | On 3 October 2025, the President of the Republic approved an amendment to the international agreement on European roads (AGR) by which European route 16, E16, can be extended to the Finnish side. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched a legislative project for the national implementation of extending E16 to Finland.

10.5.2010 | The International Telecommunications Union, ITU, and the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation, UNESCO, have set up a high-level Broadband Commission for Digital Development. Members to the Commission have been invited from among opinion leaders representing governments and commercial and industrial life.

15.7.2025 | The Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) met for its 134th session in London on 7–11 July 2025. Finland has been a member of the Council during the current term 2024–2025.

19.4.2023 | Kanslichef Minna Kivimäki reser till London den 19–21 april 2023 för att främja de kampanjer där Finland strävar efter att nå kärnan i Internationella sjöfartsorganisationen IMO. Under sin resa träffar Kivimäki centrala representanter för IMO:s medlemsländer och olika sjöfartsaktörer.

30.9.2024 | The Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization convenes in London from 30 September to 4 October 2024. The 82nd session of the Committee continues the negotiations on global actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. The topics include the package of a possible fuel standard and a price for carbon emissions. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications Minna Kivimäki attends the session on 30 September–2 October 2024.

27.9.2024 | Suomi on liittynyt Yhdysvaltojen vetämään monenkeskiseen julkilausumaan merikaapeliturvallisuudesta. Julkilausumassa sovittiin yhteisistä tavoitteista ja keinoista merikaapeleiden turvallisuuden ja resilienssin vahvistamiseksi.
