Finländska aktörer ansöker om sammanlagt 81,04 miljoner euro från Europeiska kommissionen för fem kommunikationsprojekt. Medlen söks via Fonden för ett sammanlänkat Europa (CEF, Connecting Europe Facility). Statsrådets finansutskott tillstyrkte ansökningarna den 8 februari 2024.

21.3.2025 | Fysisk aktivitet främjas tvärsektoriellt genom olika ministeriers åtgärder. Målet är att skapa permanenta samhällsstrukturer som möjliggör en fysiskt aktiv vardag. I halvtidsöversynen av programmet Finland i rörelse konstaterades att åtgärderna framskrider som planerat.

24.4.2026 | The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet in London from 27 April to 1 May 2026. IMO Member States are expected to decide the next steps in negotiations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. Other topics to be discussed include specifications to the rules on the carbon intensity and energy efficiency of vessels, the regulation of ballast water and guidance on reducing underwater noise.

The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet in London on 7–11 April 2025. The objective of the Committee’s 83rd session is to agree on legally binding measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. The reduction targets have been agreed on in the IMO’s greenhouse gas strategy.

The Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) met in London on 24–28 March 2025. The meeting discussed measures to prevent illegal operations by vessels belonging to the shadow fleet. The Committee approved a proposal co-sponsored by Finland and many other countries to conduct a Regulatory Scoping Exercise to further develop actions to prevent unlawful operations in the maritime sector.

The revised Road Traffic Act will enter into force next Monday, 1 June 2020. The new Act includes all the provisions concerning guidance of people's behaviour in transport. The purpose of the new act is to improve the flow and safety of traffic and create a favourable environment for digitalisation and safe automation of transport.

Europeiska kommissionen har den 16 december 2025 publicerat ett så kallat bilindustripaket som syftar till att främja bilindustrins konkurrenskraft och stödja övergången till rena fordon. Paketet innehåller flera lagstiftningsförslag.

30.9.2024 | The Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization convenes in London from 30 September to 4 October 2024. The 82nd session of the Committee continues the negotiations on global actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. The topics include the package of a possible fuel standard and a price for carbon emissions. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications Minna Kivimäki attends the session on 30 September–2 October 2024.

28.4.2025 | On 21 February 2025, the European Commission and the EU High Representative issued a Joint Communication on an EU Action Plan on Cable Security concerning submarine cables. The Ministry of Transport and Communications will inform Parliament of the action plan on 25 april 2025.

16.12.2025 | At the Energy Council meeting on 15 December 2025, Member States of the European Union adopted a partial general approach on the proposed regulation establishing Connecting Europe Facility for 2028–2034. Finland is in favour of the regulation’s emphasis on military mobility.
