  1. 15.6.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications published the final report of the Digital Panel on 15 June 2026. The report presents recommendations for measures to strengthen Finland’s economic growth, competitiveness and capacity for renewal through digitalisation, emerging technologies and the data economy.

  2. In line with the Programme of Prime Minister Orpo's Government, Finland's Cyber Security Strategy has been revised to respond to the changed security environment. The objectives of the revised strategy extend to 2035. A strategy implementation plan has been drawn to describe the development measures to achieve the objectives. The plan was approved on 3 December 2024 by the steering group of the project developing an operating model for government security management.

  9. 27.6.2025 | On 27 June 2025, the President of the Republic approved amendments to the Act on the Finnish Broadcasting Company Yle. The amendments will implement the legislative changes outlined by the parliamentary working group on Yle. They also incorporate the criteria and procedures for the appointment and dismissal of the management of public service media providers required by the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA). The legislative amendments will enter into force on 8 August 2025.

  12. 16.4.2025 | On 16 April 2025, the Government submitted a proposal to Parliament to amend the Act on the Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle). The proposed amendments will implement the legislative changes outlined by the parliamentary working group on Yle. Funding is proposed for the administrative branches of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.   16. 27.5.2024 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications requests comments on the draft government proposal for an act amending the Act on the Finnish Meteorological Institute and for an Act amending the Act on the Defence Forces. The amendments would enable the establishment of a space situational awareness centre in Finland. The deadline for submitting comments is 30 June 2024.

  18. 27.6.2024 | The Government proposes that the President of the Republic approve the amendments to the Act on Electronic Communication Services and that the Act enter into force on 1 July 2024. The must-carry obligation for radio programmes would be removed from the Act, the provision on the revocation of radio licences would be amended and other technical amendments would be made. After a one-year transition period, the must-carry obligation for radio would end on 1 July 2025.
