1.10.2020 | In its final report, the working group for a digital leap forward proposes that Finland's digitalisation development should focus more on the structures and services of digital society that intersect society at large and accelerate the use of data. The working group handed its report to Timo Harakka, Minister of Transport and Communications, on 1 October 2020.

16.12.2020 | On 17 December, the EU environment and climate ministers will meet in Brussels to finalise the EU’s climate commitment to the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Finland’s representative at the meeting will be Minister of the Environment and Climate Change Krista Mikkonen.

20.12.2024 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications requests comments on the updates to the national 12-year transport system plan Transport 12 and on the environmental report. The deadline for submitting comments is 5 March 2025.

10.11.2021 | Finland participates in six transport initiatives adopted at the Glasgow Climate Change Conference. Countries make commitments to reduce emissions on the road, at sea and in the air. Most of these declarations were published on the Transport Day on 10 November 2021.

30.9.2021 | The Government submitted four Union communications to Parliament on 30 September 2021 concerning legislative proposals for transport. These communications address the tightening of CO2 emission limits for motor vehicles, development of a distribution infrastructure for alternative fuels, and an increase in the use of alternative fuels in aviation and maritime transport.

According to the proposal, the scrapping incentive could be granted to a private individual to replace an old vehicle to be scrapped with a new vehicle, an electric bicycle or a public transport ticket. EUR 8 million will be reserved for the scrapping incentive.

6.3.2012 | Proposal for transport policy report by the Ministry of Transport and Communications has been sent to interest groups for comments. Comments are requested by 12 March. The report sets out transport policy guidelines and the associated action plan until the end of 2022 as well as a vision and desired state for transport policy for 2030.
