New flight routes between Finland and Russia

Air traffic between Finland and Russia is progressively becoming more open and free. The two countries have agreed upon new flight routes from Helsinki to destinations in Russia. Talks on air traffic between Finland and Russia were held in Moscow 4 -5 February.

During the talks new flight routes were established from Helsinki to Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod and Samara. Finnish airlines can begin to fly to these destinations without restrictions or additional requirements.

The results of the talks promise a new era is beginning in bilateral air traffic relations and will see air traffic between Finland and Russia progressively become more free.

The results of the talks mean that another Finnish carrier is also welcome to begin flights between Helsinki and Moscow. The flight selection from Helsinki to Moscow and Saint Petersburg may improve in the future as an increase in flights will make it possible to fly roundtrips every day of the week. New overflight destinations in Asia, as well as flight rights for passenger and cargo traffic were also agreed upon.

Air traffic talks will be held twice a year from now on.
