Minister Berner to Singapore
Minister of Transport and Communications Anne Berner will visit Singapore on 14-18 September. Minister Berner will meet the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Communications and Information of Singapore, speak at a ministerial event at the Singapore International Cyber Week, and meet with representatives of Finnish companies in Singapore.
The trip is focused on the digitalisation and automatisation of transport, the reduction of carbon emissions from transport and the development of 5G networks.
"It is highly interesting to hear about Singapore's experiences of 5G development, and I believe that this is an area in which we have much to learn from one another. Finland has approached development by providing bandwidths for testing purposes, and we can provide them to all kinds of users - big and small, national and international. That remains our message" says Minister Berner.
Minister Berner intends to discuss the concept of Mobility as a Service and smart marine technology with Singapore's Minister of Transport, Khaw Boon Wan. She will be talking about cyber security with Yaacob Ibrahim, Minister of Communications and Information.
She will discuss smart cities with Senior Ministers of State Janil Puthucheary and Chee Hong Tat.
The ministerial event taking place during Singapore's International Cyber Week will be attended by around 20 ministers responsible for cyber security, as well as senior officials from ASEAN countries, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Minister Berner will speak about cyber security from the point of view of digital transport services.
She will also be on a panel during the business week organised by the City of Helsinki, the theme of which is the transport of the future. Singapore will be represented on the panel by Chan Cheow Hoe, Deputy Chief Executive of the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech). Minister Berner will also speak at the Singapore Slush Partners Day.
