On 10 November 2016, the Finnish Government issued a network licence for three multiplexes in antenna television. The licence period will begin in 2017. The network licence, which is for multiplexes B, C and D in the VHF band, was granted to Digita Oy, the only applicant for the licence.

The licence was issued for a period from 17 May 2017 to 10 January 2027.

The aim of the licence is to ensure that adequate capacity will be available for antenna television network channels in the next licence period, and to promote the provision of high-quality and diverse contents.

The issuance of the network licence allows the programme licence round that was discontinued in summer 2016 to proceed. The applicants may supplement their applications until 25 November 2016. The authority granting the licences for multiplexes in the UHF band is the Government and for multiplexes in the VHF band and for the regional multiplex in Ostrobothnia the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority.
