  12. 25.6.2026 | A total of approximately EUR 17.6 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is being sought for Finnish-led projects. In addition, approximately EUR 8.6 million in funding is being sought for Swedish-led projects that involve Finnish operators.   13. 11.3.2026 | Finland’s Ministry of Transport and Communications published a Joint Nordic Strategy for Transport System Preparedness on 11 March 2026. The strategy was handed over to the Nordic transport ministers in Rovaniemi where the ministers also issued a joint statement. As part of their meeting, the ministers will also visit the multinational Cold Response 26 military exercise in Lapland on 12 March 2026.

  15. 16.4.2026 | A Finnish-led project has applied for EUR 9.55 million in European Commission funding to reinforce subsea cable repair capacity. The project is coordinated by the Finnish National Emergency Supply Agency and involves partners from Finland, Sweden and Estonia.   19. 16.2.2026 | On 16 February 2026, Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne and Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apóstolos Tzitzikóstas visited the Gulf of Finland to learn about icebreaking. On board icebreaker Sisu, the Minister and Commissioner discussed topics related to icebreaking and other current issues concerning the transport sector. Sisu was the first place that the Commissioner visited in Finland.
