  1. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has launched the TUUTTI project for security and growth through communications networks.   3. On 22 June 2022, the Government appointed the Advisory Board for Network Security for a new term of office. The role of the Advisory Board is to assess and develop the security of domestic communications networks and to support the authorities' decision-making processes. The Board was appointed for the period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024.

  4. On 27 June 2024, the Government appointed the Advisory Board for Network Security for a new term of office. The Advisory Board aims to assess and improve national security in communications networks. The Board’s term of office is from 1 July 2024 to 31 December 2027.

  6. 25.6.2026 | A total of approximately EUR 17.6 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is being sought for Finnish-led projects. In addition, approximately EUR 8.6 million in funding is being sought for Swedish-led projects that involve Finnish operators.   7. A working group appointed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications has started its work to promote 6G communications technologies. The aim is to prepare a national 6G roadmap and to encourage cooperation and exchange of information in the field of future-generation wireless network technologies.   9. 23.6.2026 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications requests views on a draft government proposal to amend the Act on the Transport System and Highways, the Rail Transport Act and certain related acts. The aim is to improve the security and reliability of the transport network and to streamline the processes of planning and implementing the transport infrastructure.   11. On 9 April, the Ministry of Transport and Communications launched a legislative project to prepare amendments to the act on facilitating the introduction of very high capacity networks. The legislative amendments will enable the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom to implement a system for responding to and monitoring location study requests.

  18. Finland has been awarded EUR 462,000 in EU funding to advance road safety under a European Commission call launched in late 2025. It will support a network-wide road safety assessment, the collection of road safety performance indicators, and the national implementation of the EU Road Safety Package.

  20. 2.7.2026 | On 2 July 2026, the Government submitted to Parliament its proposal for amending the Private Roads Act. The amendments would simplify the administration and operations of private road maintenance associations, strengthen road shareholders' protection under the law and promote road safety on private roads. More broadly, their aim is to clarify, specify and harmonise certain provisions of the Private Roads Act.
