13.10.2025 | To support the preparation of the project "Security and new economic growth from information networks" (TUUTTI), the Ministry of Transport and Communications invited comments on the project's key needs and themes. The consultation was open from 19 June to 31 August 2025.  On 13 October 2025, the Ministry published a summary of the 33 comments received.

The Ministry cannot fully share the views expressed in the report, nor can it agree with all of the proposed further measures put forward in it. 15.11.2021 | The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications organised a round table on 15 November 2021 to hear the views of various interest groups on distribution channels for alternative fuels in road transport and on hydrogen as a power source. The demands of the EU regulations currently in preparation for refuelling/recharging infrastructure were also discussed in detail. This infrastructure plays a crucial role in efforts to mainstream low-emission alternative fuels.

The objectives of the change include the improvement of the consumers' position, the promotion of both investments into communications networks and the availability of communications services as well as ensuring the security of communication networks better. The Government gave the proposal to the Parliament on Thursday, 11 June 2020.

3.5.2018 | The Government proposes that the Finnish Transport Safety Agency, Trafi, the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority and certain functions of the Finnish Transport Agency be merged into a new Transport and Communications Agency. The current Transport Agency would continue as Transport Infrastructure Agency. The Government submitted a proposal on the matter on 3 May 2018. The proposal includes bills concerning the agencies, an implementation act and nearly 90 bills relating to the reform.
