Finland’s Ministry of Transport and Communications published a Joint Nordic Strategy for Transport System Preparedness on 11 March 2026. The strategy was handed over to the Nordic transport ministers in Rovaniemi where the ministers also issued a joint statement. Finnish operators apply for a total of EUR 13.76 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for seven communications projects. In addition, four Swedish projects are partly placed in Finland. The European Commission has selected communications projects to receive funding from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). In the fourth round of calls for proposals under the CEF Digital programme, five projects coordinated by Finnish operators received a total of around EUR 4.67 million in funding. Finland seeks EU funding for subsea cable repair capacity - Ministry of Transport and Communications
A Finnish-led project has applied for EUR 9.55 million in European Commission funding to reinforce subsea cable repair capacity. The project is coordinated by the Finnish National Emergency Supply Agency and involves partners from Finland, Sweden and Estonia. Finland has joined the Global Coalition on Telecommunications (GCOT) in connection with the Barcelona Mobile World Congress. 26.1.2026 | On 26 January 2026, Finland and 13 other European countries published a letter to the International Maritime Community on the safety and security risks caused by Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference. 16.8.2012 | Sweden is to once again allow the prior maximum weight limits for lorries travelling internationally. The Swedish government made a decision on the matter during its session on Thursday 16 August. 13.11.2025 | The Finnish Government submitted a communication to Parliament on 13 November 2025 regarding the European Commission’s proposal for a Regulation on the Connecting Europe Facility for the period 2028–2034. 3.10.2025 | On 3 October 2025, the President of the Republic approved an amendment to the international agreement on European roads (AGR) by which European route 16, E16, can be extended to the Finnish side.
