22.6.2023 | Finland has successfully applied for EU funding. The European Commission awarded funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to seven projects in Finland. Funding was received for rail transport and port projects. The Assembly of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) will elect a new Council for the forthcoming two-year term in November-December. Finland is seeking re-election to the Council. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has invited Finnish maritime education institutions to serve as advisers to the Finnish delegation at the Assembly. 2.4.2020 | Finland's rail transport is undergoing a transformation. The system currently used to ensure the safe running of trains will come to the end of its lifecycle at the end of the 2020s. Alternatives to the outdated train control system were examined in the extensive Digirail study that has just been completed. The Ministry of Transport and Communications is finalising the government proposal to amend taxi regulation. Next, the proposal will be reviewed by the Finnish Council of Regulatory Impact Analysis, translated and submitted to legislative editing.
