  1. In line with the Programme of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's Government, Finland's Cyber Security Strategy has been revised to respond to the changed security environment. The strategy will make cyber security a more integral part of Finland's concept of comprehensive security.

  2. In line with the Programme of Prime Minister Orpo's Government, Finland's Cyber Security Strategy has been revised to respond to the changed security environment. The objectives of the revised strategy extend to 2035. A strategy implementation plan has been drawn to describe the development measures to achieve the objectives. The plan was approved on 3 December 2024 by the steering group of the project developing an operating model for government security management.

  5. 23.1.2026 | The European Commission presented proposals on 20 and 21 January 2026 for new cybersecurity regulation and the Digital Networks Act (DNA). The cybersecurity package includes a proposal to revise the Cybersecurity Act and to amend the cybersecurity regulation known as the Network and Information Systems Directive (NIS2 Directive).

The National Cyber Security Office, based at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the Finnish Terminology Centre are requesting comments on a draft of an updated Cybersecurity Glossary. The deadline for submitting comments is 20 March 2026. The glossary project is part of an implementation plan of Finland’s Cyber Security Strategy 2024–2035.

  13. The Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) convenes in London from 18 to 27 June 2025. Permanent Secretary Minna Kivimäki will participate in the meeting in London on 23–25 June to promote Finland’s new term as a member of IMO’s Council.

  19. 14.1.2021 | The Government is proposing an urgent revision of legislation on car scrapping bonuses to ensure that a subsidy granted for scrapping one old car is used in purchasing one new low-emission passenger motor vehicle, electric bicycle or right to use public transport.
