7.5.2026 | On 7 May 2026, the Government submitted for approval amendments to the Act on Transport Services, the Driving Licence Act, the Act on the Organisation of Driver Examinations and the Act on the Enforcement of a Fine. The amendments aim to improve the operating conditions for the transport sector. 22.1.2024 | The European Member States, Parliament and the Commission have reached a provisional agreement on a regulation on CO2 emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles (HDVs). The emissions reduction targets for new heavy-duty vehicles will gradually tighten and the scope of application of the regulation will widen. 10.11.2022 | The Government proposes amendments to the Act on Environmental and Energy Efficiency Requirements for Vehicle and Transport Service Procurements. With the health and social services reform, the requirements assigned to municipalities under the current Act will transfer to the wellbeing services counties, which are about to start operating on 1 January 2023. 25.3.2010 | Two amendments have been made to the European Agreement concerning the Work of Crews of Vehicles Engaged in International Road Transport (AETR) which also require the amendment of the Finnish Road Traffic Act. The amendments to the AETR Agreement mean that Russian lorries and coaches will have to be equipped with digital tachographs when travelling in Finland, too.
