Transport digitalisation the theme of Minister Berner's trip to Brussels
Ms Anne Berner, Minister of Transport and Communications, will visit Brussels from 13 to 14 June. She will meet with several Commissioners and speak at a high-level seminar on the Mobility as a Service concept.
The Forum for Mobility & Society organises regular debates on mobility of the future, involving representatives of the society, business sector and European institutions. Minister Berner will give her closing remarks at the Mobility as a Service seminar on 13 June.
A long-term aim pursued in transport policy is a change that would turn mobility into a service (Mobility as a Service, MaaS). Finland is a pioneer in this "mobility as a service" thinking. The process will be promoted by a new act, the Transport Code, which has been prepared at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
Minister Berner will hold bilateral discussions with Mr Andrus Ansip and Mr Jyrki Katainen, Vice Presidents of the Commission, Mr Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, and Ms Violeta Bulc, Commissioner for Transport. The discussions will focus on the digital single market and new financing models in transport services.
Minister Berner will also meet with Members of the European Parliament and, on the invitation of the Confederation of Finnish Industries, Finnish people living in Brussels.
