Traffic control services to be incorporated
The President of the Republic has confirmed an act on the incorporation of the current traffic control and management services of the Finnish Transport Agency into a limited liability company. The new company is to ensure safety and smooth flow of maritime, railway and road traffic. The Act will enter into force on 1 January 2019.
The new special assignment company will provide traffic control and management services directly or indirectly to private and public operators and to competent authorities, such as the government transport agencies, Defence Forces, Border Guard, rescue authorities and Police.
From the beginning of 2019, the new company and the present companies involved in traffic control, that is Air Navigation Services Finland Oy and Finrail Oy, will form a group with subsidiaries for each transport mode. Services shared by the companies will be centralised and provided at the group level.
Transport Agency personnel who are currently working in traffic control and management, and their tasks, will be transferred to the new company. This will take place on 1 January 2019, and it will be carried out in accordance with transfer-of-business principles and the personnel will be employed under a contractual employment relationship.
