Taina Pieski appointed as Director of International Affairs Unit as of 1.1.2019

On 7 November 2018, Minister Anne Berner appointed Taina Pieski, M.A., as Director of the International Affairs Unit at the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Ms Pieski's appointment will be from 1 January 2019 until 31 March 2020. 

Pieski started at the Ministry of Transport and Communications as Communications Director in 2008. Since 2017 she has acted as Director of Strategic Affairs at the Ministry. She has previously worked at the Ministry of the Environment and Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.   

The International Affairs Unit was established at the Ministry for the duration of Finland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It began its operations on 1 August 2018. The position of the Unit Director will become vacant as the current Director Timo Koskinen will leave the Ministry to take on new responsibilities from the beginning of 2019.
