Permanent Secretary Minna Kivimäki will visit Brussels on 20-22 March 2023 to exert influence on EU decision-making. She will meet, among others, representatives of the European Commission. Items on the agenda include topical and future transport and communications initiatives and projects.

"It is important that we discuss and exchange views on significant projects in the transport and communications sectors throughout the preparation process.  If we exert influence proactively, we can get Finland's views into the preparations right from the start," Permanent Secretary Kivimäki says.

"The Commission is preparing major projects with long-term implications, such as the Green Freight Europe package, the Digital Mobility package, the Cyber Solidarity package and initiatives on virtual worlds and future communications network infrastructure," she says.

Kivimäki will meet representatives of the cabinets of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Executive Vice-President for A Europe Fit for the Digital Age Margrethe Vestager, Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton and Commissioner for Transport Adina Vălean. She will also meet representatives of the Commission Secretariat-General and Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology. In addition, she will visit the European Parliament and meet the MEP responsible for reporting on the Media Freedom Act.

Kivimäki will visit the European External Action Service, the Mission of Finland to NATO, and the European Investment Bank.
