Minister of Transport and Communications Lulu Ranne is taking part in the informal meeting of Nordic transport ministers in Iceland on 31 October to 1 November 2023.

The meeting will address preparedness and resilience in the transport sector, micro mobility and public funding of road infrastructure.

Nordic cooperation is important for Finland with its goal is to share information and good practices among the Nordic countries and find common ground in approaching international transport matters.  In line with the Government Programme, Finland will promote the coordination of Nordic transport systems to streamline cross-border traffic and the establishment of a Nordic Council of Ministers for Transport in the Nordic Council.

As to preparedness and resilience, Finland finds Nordic cooperation very important in transport matters especially in terms of international accessibility, military mobility and security of supply.

- Recent years have highlighted the importance of Nordic cooperation and Finland is an active member of the Nordic community. We strive to further deepen Nordic integration and dismantle barriers between our countries, says Minister Ranne.
