Minister Berner visits Canada and the USA
Ms Anne Berner, Finland's Minister of Transport and Communications, will visit Canada and the United States of America on 26-30 September.
She will lead the Finnish delegation in the International Civil Aviation Organization Assembly to be held in Montreal, Canada. The most important item on the agenda of the Assembly is the Global Market-Based Measure Scheme, GMBM.
"It is very important for Finland and other European countries that the GMBM proposal is founded on a route-based model, because it is equal to all operators and does not jeopardise global competition," Ms Berner says.
Other items on the agenda of the Montreal Assembly include issues related to aviation safety, liberalisation of air transport markets, airspace management, unmanned aircraft systems, passenger rights, and traffic flow.
At the Montreal Assembly, Minister Berner will meet Ms Fang Liu, Secretary-General of ICAO; Mr Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, President of ICAO Council; and Ms Sharon Dijksma, State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment of the Netherlands.
In Detroit, Minister Berner will attend the World Mobility Leadership Forum that focuses on modern mobility solutions in city transport, where she will present the Finnish Transport Code, the Mobility as a Service concept and aspects of data utilisation.
In Washington D.C., Minister Berner will attend a round table discussion on internet of things and meet representatives of the United States administration and Congress.
