The Ministry of Transport and Communications has appointed a Logistics Digitalisation Forum with representatives from the authorities and Ministry stakeholders for a period from 2021 to 2023. The aim of the Forum is to ensure Finland's top position in the digitalisation of the logistics sector. The Forum is a key measure in the resolution on digitalisation of logistics approved by the Government on 27 May 2021.

The task of the Forum is to ensure the implementation of the resolution and, in particular, the sharing of digital data in the supply chain in order to reduce costs, accelerate sustainable growth and achieve the climate policy objectives. The Forum promotes concrete measures for strengthening the digitalisation. It supports projects utilising data-based networks and supports and speeds up the national implementation of EU regulation.

"Digitalisation improves the efficiency of transport services and facilitates their optimisation in individual supply chains as well as in the transport system as a whole. Systematic data management and sharing on as broad a basis as possible can significantly reduce emissions. Constructive cooperation is a means to promote this development," says Timo Harakka, Minister of Transport and Communications.

Maria Rautavirta, Director of Unit at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, chairs the Forum. The members represent businesses in the logistics and transport services and digital solutions, key sectors in industry, commerce and other service branches as well as ministries and the authorities.

What's next?

The Logistis Digitalisation Forum will meet four times a year or when necessary. Its term will end on 31 December 2023.
