Jarkko Saarimäki appointed to serve as Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency

On 7 December 2023, the Government appointed Jarkko Saarimäki, Master of Laws, to serve as Director General of the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency, Traficom, for the period from 20 December 2023 to 19 December 2028. 

Saarimäki will transfer to the post from the Ministry of Transport and Communications where he has served as Director General of the Services Department since October 2022.

In 2020–2022, he worked as Director General of Transport System Services at Traficom. In 2016–2019, Saarimäki served as Director of the National Cyber Security Centre at Traficom and before that as Head of Development and as Deputy Director General at the Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority.

Traficom promotes the information society and the transport system as well as cyber security and the well-functioning, safe and secure transport and communications connections.  Within those areas, it is an authority serving people and businesses in licence, registration and supervisory matters.
