Harri Pursiainen to continue as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications

Following the government's proposal, the President of the Republic appointed LL.M. Harri Pursiainen (53) Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications on 11 March 2011. Pursiainen will start his new term of office on 1 June 2011.

The Permanent Secretary's term of office is five years. The duty of the Permanent Secretary is to manage, develop and supervise the operations of the Ministry and its administrative sector.

The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications seeks to promote the efficient functioning of society and national well-being by making sure that people and businesses have access to high-quality, safe and reasonably priced transport and communication networks, and by ensuring that transport and communication companies have the opportunity to compete on a level playing field.
