According to the study, a tunnel connection would bring wide-ranging social and economic benefits to the cities and states in the area and to Europe overall.

In addition, EU funding is being sought for the acquisition of a new icebreaker. The Ministerial Finance Committee decided in favour of the applications on 19 December 2024.
