On 25 November 2025, the Ministry of Transport and Communications the Ministry of Transport and Communications decided to launch a project to start preparing the necessary legislative amendments.

Following complex negotiations and a rare vote, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) decided to postpone the final adoption of the long-discussed regulation package on maritime transport emissions by at least one year. The 80th session of the MEPC is expected to adopt a revised IMO greenhouse gas strategy.
