Finland has been awarded EUR 462,000 in EU funding to advance road safety under a European Commission call launched in late 2025. 25.6.2026 | A total of approximately EUR 17.6 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) is being sought for Finnish-led projects. In addition, approximately EUR 8.6 million in funding is being sought for Swedish-led projects that involve Finnish operators. The Ministerial Finance Committee decided in favour of the applications on 25 June 2026.

14.12.2021 | Finland is preparing a national digital compass during spring 2022. The objective is to formulate a shared national vision and targets for digital transformation and the data economy for 2030. In its second meeting on 14 December 2021, the Ministerial Working Group on Developing the Digital Transformation, the Data Economy and Public Administration outlined the content themes that guide the preparation of the digital compass.

23.6.2022 | In its meeting, the Ministerial Working Group on Developing the Digital Transformation, the Data Economy and Public Administration approved the main elements of the legislative proposals concerning a digital identification application and the redesign of the personal identity code. The working group also approved continuing the preparation of Finland’s digital compass based on feedback.
