13.7.2018 | The President of the Republic has confirmed an act on the incorporation of the current traffic control and management services of the Finnish Transport Agency into a limited liability company. The new company is to ensure safety and smooth flow of maritime, railway and road traffic. The Act will enter into force on 1 January 2019.

25.4.2017 | The Ministry of Transport and Communications will reform the agencies in its administrative branch. The Transport Safety Agency Trafi, the Communications Regulatory Authority and the official functions of the Transport Agency will be integrated into one agency. The traffic control functions of the Transport Agency will be incorporated into a fully state-owned company/companies with special assignment.

5.12.2018 | The Government authorised the Ministry of Transport and Communications to transfer the assets, immaterial rights and business operations controlled by the traffic control and management services of the Finnish Transport Agency to Traffic Management Finland Oy.

20.12.2016 | The Government's Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy supports the proposal by the Ministry of Transport and Communications to corporatise the air navigation services of Finavia Corporation and turn them into a special assignment company in spring 2017. The company would be responsible for Finland's area control service as well as for aerodrome and approach control services.

28.4.2009 | The Cabinet Committee on Economic Policy supported in its meeting of 28 April 2009 the Ministry of Transport and Communications' proposal of incorporating the Finnish Civil Aviation Administration, Finavia, as of 1 January 2010. The business activities currently managed by the Civil Aviation Administration will be transferred to a new company limited by shares that will be wholly owned by the state.

2.6.2009 | At the meeting on 2 June 2009 the Cabinet Committee on Economic Policy supported the Ministry of Transport and Communications' proposals of turning the Shipping Enterprise, Finstaship, into a state-owned company and, as decided earlier, of separating the duties related to internal production at the Finnish Maritime Administration into a state-owned company.
