  1. The Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Finance have completed a joint outlook review of the current state of transport taxation and financing, and options for reform. The review report is the first part of the Government’s comprehensive reform of transport taxation and financing set out in the Programme of Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s Government.

  3. 10.4.2024 | The European Union has granted EUR 1.9 million to Finnish businesses for constructing recharging points for electric cars in the Baltic States and EUR 4.2 million for constructing hydrogen charging points in Finland. Funding was granted under the Transport Programme of the Connecting Europe Facility, CEF.

  4. 26.10.2023 | Finnish companies apply for EU funding for building recharging points for electric cars in the Baltic States and for hydrogen stations for heavy goods vehicles in Finland and Denmark. The Ministerial Finance Committee endorsed the applications on 26 October 2023.

  5. 27.11.2025 | On 27 November 2025, the Government proposed approval of a fixed-term act on scrapping premiums for passenger cars. The act will enter into force on 1 January 2026. Applications for a scrapping premium may be submitted to the Transport and Communications Agency Traficom after the entry into force of the proposed act.

  6. 22.9.2025 | On 22 September 2025, the Government submitted to Parliament a legislative proposal concerning a fixed-term scrapping premium for passenger cars. Scrapping premiums could be applied for concerning the period 1 October 2025–31 December 2027. Applications could be submitted when the act is in force. The act is proposed to enter into force on 1 January 2026.

  9. 28.4.2025 | On 21 February 2025, the European Commission and the EU High Representative issued a Joint Communication on an EU Action Plan on Cable Security concerning submarine cables. The Ministry of Transport and Communications will inform Parliament of the action plan on 25 april 2025.

  10. 13.11.2024 | On 13 November 2024, the Ministry of Transport and Communications published the national programme on the distribution infrastructure for alternative fuels. The programme, which was drawn up in broad-based cooperation with stakeholders, facilitates the implementation of EU regulation.

  11. 15.7.2024 | On 15 July 2024, the Ministry of Transport and Communications published an assessment report on how the electrification of transport could contribute to the flexibility of the Finnish energy system.   14. 10.2.2025 | Municipalities and operators involved in Finland's critical infrastructure took part in the first national cyber exercise of the year at Jamk University of Applied Sciences between 3 and 7 February 2025. The exercise brought together cybersecurity, management and communications professionals especially from the north of Finland and Northern Ostrobothnia.

  17. 16.7.2024 | The European Commission awarded EUR 39.11 million in funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) to 11 projects in Finland. Five central government projects received a total of EUR 20.16 million and six private sector projects a total of EUR 18.96 million in funding.
