28.5.2026 | On 28 May 2026, the Government proposed the approval of the national provisions supplementing the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The legislation will enter into force on 1 June 2026, with transitional periods aligned with those of the CRA during 2026–2027. The aim of the CRA is to improve the cybersecurity of products.

20.11.2024 | The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 20 November 2024. The CRA sets minimum cyber security requirements for products and software that can be connected to the internet or to other devices. A project preparing national legislation to complement the Act is underway at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

On 29 January 2026, the Government submitted a communication to Parliament on the proposals of the European Commission and European Parliament for two regulations: the Digital Omnibus, which simplifies the EU’s digital rulebook, and the Digital Omnibus on AI, which simplifies the implementation of the harmonised rules on artificial intelligence.

The Government proposes that the President of the Republic approve the bill for cybersecurity act and set its date of entry into force on 8 April 2025. The President of the Republic is to approve the bill on Friday 4 April 2025.

On 23 May 2024, the Government submitted to Parliament a proposal concerning the national implementation of the EU Directive on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the Union (NIS 2). The aim of the Directive is to strengthen cybersecurity in critical sectors at the EU and national level.
