  2. More than EUR 13 million in EU funding sought for seven Finnish digital projects - Ministry of Transport and Communications

    Finnish operators apply for a total of EUR 13.76 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for seven communications projects.   5. Finland seeks EU funding for subsea cable repair capacity - Ministry of Transport and Communications

    A Finnish-led project has applied for EUR 9.55 million in European Commission funding to reinforce subsea cable repair capacity. The project is coordinated by the Finnish National Emergency Supply Agency and involves partners from Finland, Sweden and Estonia. The Ministerial Finance Committee decided in favour of the proposal on 16 April 2026.

    On 21 August 2025, the Government submitted to Parliament its proposal for legislation supplementing the EU Gigabit Infrastructure Act. The aim of the Gigabit Infrastructure Act is to speed up the construction of very high capacity networks. It is the aim of the European Union that, by 2030, all EU households be covered by a gigabit network.
