Finnish operators apply for a total of EUR 13.76 million in funding from the European Commission’s Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for seven communications projects. In addition, four Swedish projects are partly placed in Finland. The Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will meet in London from 27 April to 1 May 2026. IMO Member States are expected to decide the next steps in negotiations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. On 7 May 2026, the Government submitted for approval amendments to the Act on Transport Services, the Driving Licence Act, the Act on the Organisation of Driver Examinations and the Act on the Enforcement of a Fine. The amendments aim to improve the operating conditions for the transport sector. Finland is a candidate for re-election as a member of the IMO Council. Finland is seeking re-election to the Council. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has invited Finnish maritime education institutions to serve as advisers to the Finnish delegation at the Assembly. Statsrådet utfärdade den 16 april 2026 en uppdaterad förordning om användningen av radiofrekvenser och om en frekvensplan i landskapet Åland, det vill säga den så kallade frekvensförordningen för Åland. Förordningen träder i kraft den 16 april 2026. Statsrådet har utlyst en nätkoncession avseende tv-sändningar via antennätet på Åland.
