Sauli Hievanen, 34, has been appointed Special Adviser to Minister of Transport Merja Kyllönen. Mr Hievanen's previous position was Organisation Secretary at the Central Organisation of Finnish Trade Unions (SAK).
Mr Hievanen has previously worked as personal assistant to several MPs. He has also been employed at the Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors JHL, the Finnish Electrical Workers' Union and the Finnish union representing students in vocational training (SAKKI).
Mr Hievanen has also been member of the Kotka town council and has held several other positions of trust in municipal and regional bodies.
The other Special Adviser to Minister Kyllönen will be appointed later.
